The Space Between
Do you ever feel, as if you’re caught, between two worlds ? With chronic illness, we live between the average way of life and the not so average.
Many times, being cut off from the company of other people, meeting new people and doing things we use to like to do. Its really difficult to hear others talk about what they did or where they went. I’ll have people ask if I had been shopping at the new store, etc ? I don’t think they have a clue as to what it takes for us to get through a day.
How do we find a middle ground and not feel as if we’re in between?
I suppose that’s the question that each of us must answer for ourselves. I do know, that what use to be a fun time, and what is now a fun time, are miles apart. We’ve had to shift our thinking as to what productive now means to us. Change how we live, what we do, and how we do it.
Equally, we’ve found that the little things are now, most important. Many of them were missed, when we were well. I find it amazing, as to how you adapt, learn new ways of doing things, and have become very creative in doing so.
Even in all this, we find ways to survive in the space between.
