Rules Of The Wellington Region ME/CFS Support Group Inc.

  1. Confidentiality – whatever is said in the meeting room stays in the room.
  2. Respect other people’s views and beliefs – remember everyone is different, what works for one person may or may not necessarily work for you.
  3. One person speaks at a time – common courtesy and politeness.
  4. You can reveal as much or as little as you feel comfortable with – we are a support group first and foremost, we don’t pressure people to talk if they don’t want to.
  5. When we have a guest speaker keep comments and questions until they have finished speaking, we always allow for a question time.
  6. If you have any complaints or suggestions about the way the meeting or group is run, contact a committee member.
  7. If you want to suggest a guest speaker or specific topic talk to the committee first (we may have already discussed this subject and have some information on hand). If it is about a specific speaker or cure , we need written information about this first so that we (committee) can discuss it before we present it to the group. We need to know that this person or cure is genuine, you will understand there are a lot of people promising the magic cure out there who do not deliver.
  8. When ringing a group member please ask first that it is an appropriate time – we all know what it is like having a bad day and no energy to talk to people.
  9. Meetings start sharp at 12:30 and we must be out of the room exactly at 2.30 pm.
